In this he claimed to have gotten the entire source code of BNLS and other unnamed projects via a security hole in CVS accessed through a link on some asp page.
As proof, he posted screenshots of CVS directory listings of BNLS and WebBot. " we all know that denial cant do this
Well... I feel stupid :/
/me feels like a fool :(
Good shit though, I would never of thought of anything like that.

Yeah, I did too! Looks like he still likes Skywing though. ;)
Ouch. That is mean. heh
I never heard of an April Fools joke that started several days before the first of April.
Normally it is prepared for but not performed until
it is actually April 1st.
You really had me going.. I was looking forward to
a DLL that would allow local hashing of war3..
So Yoni.. why not release a DLL for local hashing?
They started it early so we wouldn't think of it as an April Fools' joke.
It was a good joke, but it must have taken a while. Goob on you vL.

I love how he says that. When he says it, it's such a perfect reason not to. Fits in so perfectly with
him - his style, attitude, ...

Give a reason why you don't wanna.
Only one I fell for this year, nicely done.
Same here, although I've developed a distaste for Denial, and never even heard of an april fool's joke that started a week in advance.

That's why it worked so well!
And Denial jumped the gun a bit, but eh?
How would you consider it an April fool's joke though, play up some crap, make some guy look like an ass, then on April 1st say "Hah it was a joke"? Doesn't seem like an April fool's joke to me.
Reminds me of my Chemistry teacher telling us they miscalculated and school ends a week later (July 7th), and it was 3pm. People don't seem to understand April fool's is a 12 hour time period.

I don't really consider it an April fools joke since it started earlier then it is supposed to.
It's an unwritten rule.
That is why you don't hear of it.
A joke nonetheless but doesn't qualify as an April Fools joke.
Denial the leader of FallenArms, a pawn.
And vL members.. the players.
I would have never suspected Denial to be a pawn.
Good job.
Add-On:
Actually.. it probably is written somewhere for reference.
Doesn't really matter what day it was on.
Many of you no doubt remember our skit involving the dissolution of Valhalla Legends? That was during the fall, I believe. I think late 2002.

Sure it does.
Scenario:
A week before April 1st, you tell me I got accepted into Loyola.
I get worked up and I make plans and preparations for college..
Then when it is April 1st you tell me, "APRIL FOOLS you didn't get accepted."
That would be a lame joke.

uh oh.. you telling me this isn't the first time you pulled something like this?
I wasn't such an active forum goer during fall of 2002.
Can you fill me in on what happened, Grok?

Some of it is here:

I think the rest took place on Battle.net.
You definitely had the majority of people going, very good show. I give it 6 Thumbs Up, and Props To Yoni For Making Everyone, Even Denial believe the worst had occured. BRAVO !! :D
o.OV, what you say clearly suggests that it depends on the scenario. This joke is nothing like the joke you presented, one that clearly has something to do with you personally. Valhalla Legends' joke's special ingredient was one of desire-- no one is supposed to have the BNLS/WebBot/etc. source code, but for those who do want it, their intentions were clearly shown. People made asses out of themselves, and now we know how those people act and why they do, to some extent. I can make the generalization, through the facts, that the reason many people associate with vL is they can try to obtain things that they can use for their own personal promotion.

I agree with you there. Some people who seem perfectly decent just go and beg like babies wanting their bottle. :P

Raihan, you missed the point completely and the scenario I presented is something like the joke vL played.
If you haven't noticed.. I am simplifying "the joke scenario" to make it easier for people like you to notice the time similarities and how stupid it would be to have a joke that started a week before April 1st and ended on April Fools day.
You're talking about delay in revealing the fact that the event is a joke, but in vL's joke, time does not matter. The event wasn't supposed to affect anyone personally, so the delay didn't ruin anything.

You still don't get it.. with such a delay. It can't be categorized as an April Fools joke.
Time does matter.

April fools is one day.. your joke took a week?
That doesn't fit.
Saying "Hah we got you for the past 5 days, and today we just told you the truth, even though today is the day we're supposed to trick you" is hardly an April fool's joke, especially if all you did on April fool's was say "we fooled you".
Good(?) joke, bad category, I wouldn't call it an April fool's joke by any means.
Note: April fool's is only the first half of the day.
Spht, I still consider it a joke.
To call it an April Fools joke is just lame.
