I am bored. I am also slightly drunk. This is a byproduct of both aformentioned states.
1. The most common method of looking smart is to spell things correctly. Also, engage in punctuation and capitalization. See how I used a comma, capitalized the first word of my sentences, and followed periods with two spaces?
2. Follow the previous rule. Attempts to appear cool via "leet speak" or alternating caps just makes you look like an asshole.
3. Do not have a massive signature image with your clever handle, incredible lens flare and extreme embossing that you did in 2 minutes in photoshop.
4. Previously mentioned handle should in NO WAY be related to Dragon Ball Z (GoKuMaStA) or contain the term "gosu." I'm sick of seeing that.
5. Do not engage in arguments over A) previously discussed topics, B) topics about which you know nothing, or C) stupid topics.
6. Look at the registration date, post count, forum karma, and moderation status of someone before insulting them. Compare it with your own. If you are newer/not as liked/not a moderator, you probably can't get away with it. Although if the other person has broken one of my clever rules, you might be able to.
7. Be polite. It makes the world go 'round.
8. Don't whine. It's like inviting people to make fun of you.
9. Be prepared to defend your opinion in a rational manner. Chances are someone else knows more than you. Presenting something as fact and being proved wrong makes you look bad.
10. Your forum icon should not be one of the stock YaBB icons. Either have an original icon or none at all. It's confusing when twelve people have the same stupid Elmer Fudd / Aragorn icon. Be original.
Feel free to post more rules. Being inebriated is not required but it helps. For example, I just came up with all these on the spot. HoooHa.
