Title: Music Composition
Post by: Spht on January 30, 2004, 04:41 PM
Could anyone point me to a program which allows you to record audio (e.g., from a microphone or keyboard), edit it (adjust volume, layer other recorded audio, etc), and save as WAV, WMA, or MP3?

I use Nero Wave Editor that came with my Nero Burning Rom. It's not very advanced, but it should be able to do what you asked for.

Cubase is another one, if you want to do more music-composition type stuff.

There are a few neat programs out there:
-Fruityloops (http://www.fruityloops.com)
-SoundForge (was http://www.sonicfoundry.com, now http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/)
-Cooledit, seems to have recently been taken over by Adobe, so not sure about this one but (http://www.syntrillium.com)
and there are a few others, but these are very powerful sound-editing and recording tools.

I'm not quite sure I'd trust a program from a website called "FruityLoops."

Cooledit, protools, soundforge, cubase, or cakewalk.

FruityLoops is fun.

I've heard that a lot of people use Pro Tools.
