Title: P2P Network/Client?
Post by: K on January 20, 2004, 02:58 AM
Ever since napster was shut down, I've used Kazaa Lite to get my music fix.  Recently though, it's been kind of flaky, not to mention that new versions are doubtful.  This brings me to my question: what do you use to get gobs of available (re: eMule) search results and decent downloads?

Suprnova is good for movies and what not, but other than that, its a piece of shit in my opinion.  The songs are not endless, and the movies are enormous, for you 10gb harddrive junkies, I suggest staying with Kazaa.

You misunderstood.  I've used both; I'm not satisfied with the results/availability on the eDonkey network for music, and recently Kazaa (K++) has been giving poor results, taking forever to connect, etc.

Re: WinMX:  I used that quite a while ago: has it gotten better? does the interface still suck?

iago: Haven't tried overnet lately, guess I'll take another look.  I'm kind of pissed off at BitTorrent right now because I've got one downloading thats been going for about two weeks now.  I'll download for about ten minutes until my share rating declines, and then my downloading will grind to a halt and I'll upload for about three days before I get decent download speeds again.

I've never had any problems with K++.. it's been speedy ever since I ditched Kazaa for it ages ago.

It was for me too -- recently though it takes forever to connect and gives very few results that can't be downloaded.  Maybe it's my university.

Try soulseek for your music fix, www.slsknet.org

older versions of kazaa lite tend to work better(they actually still connect) and here's the link to the versions that tend to work(for me anyway)

Other than that, all I can suggest is Overnet, which is alright, sometimes hard to find certain files..

I found overnet good for finding a few things I couldn't find *anywhere* else, specificly Diablo: Hellfire. Well, I'm not sure if it's real yet, but I can hope :P

What's that again? Unofficial mod?

Well, it's the "only authorized diablo expansion". Made by sierra rather than blizzard. (And the file wasn't real/didn't work or something, so :( )

Ah, so it is the official mod. Hmmyes, I recall people setting up things to play that over b.net.
