Apparently someone got access into https://12.129.232.213 (Which is Blizzard's private server [so i'm told and read many times in the past hour]), even a WHOIS look up on 12.129.232.213 shows it's owned by Blizzard Entertainment. I guess there are 21 files you need to install, WoW Alpha.ace, WoW Alpha.cXX, XX is 01 to 19
I want... I plan on making thousands on that game ^^ and the earlier I can get it the better.

Given that it would have to be used with Blizzard's WoW servers, which aren't public, isn't it a bit useless?
Probably, people usually find ways to crack it and set up a cracked server though.
Warforge supported The Frozen Throne beta, they're already setting up a WoW server for WoW.

It sounds like "Warforge" is assuming the game works the same as Warcraft III, when from the type of game it looks like, I'd say it works more like Star Wars Galaxy. If the WoW server works like the Star Wars Galaxy server, it would take many months for someone to re-create a single server(planet). I haven't been following how the multiplayer is set up, but it's possible that there will be several worlds to choose from, and players can't make their own games. All games are started by the Battle.net server and are always running. Players join the game and games can have up to 1000 players.
If the limit is 1000 players per server they will need a few hundred. Also you don't have to create each planet or what not per say. One just has to program a single server and then have it customizable with scripts to create the different planets. More then likely how it is done on WoW. Anyways these are just guesses from other MMORPGs such as UO/Everquest/SWG/AC.

You don't seem to get it. Players choose between servers, each server being identical but with a different name. Players then create a character (usually limit 1 per server) and play on that planet(/server) and interact with the thousand(s) of other players. Your character is limited to that server.
The server will not host individual games, just 1 big world (guess, but a guess that's probably right nontheless).
I got that, maybe you misread my post? I was responding/adding to Sphts post.
Is WoW going to be pay-to-play or what?

I started downloading yesterday but quit after 3 hours since I had only downloaded about 15 MB's. :(
If anyone needs/wants the torrent file for all of the WoW files, http://www.userloser.net/WoW%20Alpha.torrent
is yours faster than 15 mb/3 hours?

you don't download from one server, on torrents i believe, it's from many users at once. not sure, i'm new to torrents :P
Torrents are absolutely the best way to waste your bandwidth. I max out constantly with them. People download parts from you while you are downloading from them/others. It's really nice. It's open source and cross-platform, too.

yes, when it's running it my cable runs so slow :-X - Time to go, and time to start it since cable dropped last night while finishing download :)
Edit: Wrong smiley
Torrents have seemingly no effect on my cable at all :/
My download finished in ~12 hours.
ok, having no affect on cable downloading is not the problem. Now start sharing your wow files with everyone else and lets see you have free upload bandwidth.
yes i agree its dumb to download you have to upload at the same time usually sending it to more people then you are receiving just stick to irc
Most of what you get is from partners, though.. you trade bit-for-bit with others, so the faster you're uploading the faster you can download. It's fair!
How about no? i rather stick with something lame like kazaa then this even it's better and probably faster but irc is the best route unless your going direct with a person
I have no idea what you just said.
Maybe he means that he's stubborn and stupid and won't switch from his crappy thing to something that is better in every way?

BS.
When I used the torrent system I uploaded at 45kb and downloaded at 10kb.

That really sucks if your internet is that slow, my internet downloads about 350kb/second
You can limit upload speed, too. "-maxupload 10" or something like that

It's not BS, atleast with the program I used, Burst, i had to wait about 10-20 minutes before it got to full speed - it slowly gets faster... so be patient
It's not bad, but i usually get way faster times with SoulSeek

All I can say is that the BitTorrent system is doing a good job.
Only problems, i have problems extracting the libraries because winrar freezes :-\

Why would I want to do that? What if I want to send something to my FTP? I'd rather not screw around with settings anyways, I have a tendency to forget what I've done.
My upload speeds tend to be a 30-50 KB/s and downloads can range anywhere from > 1 - 300+ KB/s depending on seeds
for people who want to see the map, im working on a site
http://jurai.free.fr/WoW
yoni and sky seem to enjoy it
Is that two vaguely humanoid figures?
BitTorrent is useless; I never get more than 10KBps on it even if I'm uploading at my line's max (~15KBps). I prefer the WoW FTPs which let me download at my cap of 1mbps.
BitTorrent tends to accelerate. I stand by it.
j0k3r - what? That made no sense.. you can upload at 10, and still use an ftp at any speed.

Those forums *sooo* suck. Way too many "me too"-style replies. Lots of users should be moderated away.
There's just too many posts to moderate it well..
I.e. too few moderators.
