Hi, I am starting college next year and am choosing computing. The language I am going to be taught is Pascal. I wondered what any one on this forum though of it and if it is any good?
Thanks
Pascal is ancient, it's not used for anything useful that I know of.
Take Grok's advice, learn uh... What's that language where all the old people know and are going to retire?
COBOL
Learn Latin. Latin is pretty old.
Delphi is pascal, and that's most certainly used in business, though not as much as other things. I think it's a great learning language, personally, but if you want to do anything substantial you'll have to switch to Delphi or learn something else.
Before anyone says anything disparaging about Delphi, just remember that it's VCL that's inefficient as hell and the the delphi compiler itsself is perfectly good.
Has anyone ported wxWindows to Delphi and made an IDE to make GUIs? Seems like a good idea to me...
Fortran is the old language that all the old people know (hint: that was the language used in the 1970's with punchcards ;D)

Replying to 4 month old posts is pointless.
