There is a little known VB5.0 interpreter called Visual Basic Control Creation Edition. You can't use it to make .exe files, and it's probably missing some functuality, but it's a great program to learn on. You can get it here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/downloads/tools/cce/default.aspx
Free of charge! And it's only 7.13MB download or 7.83MB installed, so it's a good deal!
Good luck!

I believe it lacks the ability to make Exe files.

Why do I get the feeling that nobody listens to me!?
Poor mis-read iago, lol, pun. (I think)
It's probably missing some features.
And I doubt you can make executables with it.
OMG Eibro lmao.
Yeah that's the only thing missing from what I could tell, it is also available on microsoft.com.
Don't forget that CCE = Control Creation Edition! :P
Since it's probably missing functionality, it might even be free.... And that would make it something good to learn on!
Lol... +1
I'm on my school's computer and I wanted to make an uber leet h4x program and when I went to compile it, it failed to compile. What a waste you are iago.
Hmm, well after I downloaded it it seems the download link went down so I mirrored it on my website.
