Title: ban/kick for idle reasons...
Post by: MoNksBaNe_Agahnim on November 15, 2003, 06:12 PM
I have been being kicked and banned from op [vl] for being idle a lot, even when i had an idle msg (/time) going off every 20 seconds...how do i stop this or is it a bug?

We can't see your anti-idle, so we presume that you are idle.  It is not a bug.

so how do i make it so i wont go idle but doesn't do a spoken anti-idle msg (says not to do that in visitor's guide)...would i need to make my anti-idle /whisper [vL] anti-idle or something?

Actually, you'd need not to go idle.  That's the point of the idlekick, after all.  Idle timeout was higher prior to the last time somebody reset ZeroBot; it's now been tuned to be lenient toward those who go off to view the forums.  Extended afk in channel is still highly likely to get you targetted.

[Edit: fixed minor typo.]

ahh k thanks, could you make it just /kick though and not ban (since you have the fast rejoin ban already) if possible please? :)

I believe it randomly decides to ban or kick.

Yes.  If he does that, then he'll get banned for repeated messages or put on the autoban list for having a visible anti-idle. :)

The bot alters the idle kick/ban depending on the activity of the channel. (Meaning, if a bunch of people are talking..and you don't talk then you're more likely to be kicked faster) However, if the channel is silent you can idle for hours. (I beleive the most I ever did without +F was nine hours)

Actually, the bot is event-driven, which is why things seem to happen more when the channel is active.
