Cause they don't let you modify the resource files by text without throwing a shit fit at you. Its a pain in the butt and if your into editing your own resource files in C++ don't use this compiler. That is unless you like MFC and all that microsoft sugar coating that makes it only work for them.
This has nothing to do with programming, it is simply someone bitching about a particular program that they don't like.

Umm, exactly what makes it hard to edit a resource script as a text file in msvc? It didn't seem hard last time I tried...

You click the 'open as' button and select 'open as text'. Simple as that (VC7).
BTW, .rc files are
not "written in C++"; it's a definition-language specific to the resource compiler.
And MFC is rather nice too, makes programming very sweet
