Nice chair.
Table: $119 at Furniture Store
Chair: $59 at Wal-Mart
Monitor Cradenza: $65 and labor
Losing almost no workspace except in the back corners of the table: priceless!

Fixed. Acceptable now?

My desk is sort of similar to that, except I don't have that nifty bookshelf. But the actual drawers more than make up for it. If I still had that digital-camera-like-thing, I'd show it to you guys. Fortunately, the desks they give us at the University are alot nicer. I'll feel spoiled. ;)

How can y'all be so unorganized? Grok's is nice & clean, tghe way it should be.
I'm a neat freak, everything has its respective place & is there unless needed. My desk is all "pretty" ;)
I work 14 hours a day 6 days a week. So the day I am home my desk gets cleaned. For the rest of time mail and bills pile up. I have all that nice stuff but i dont get to use it hardly ever which is a true shame. :/
I need to know the recommended maximum length of EIDE cables, so I can mount my CDR/DVD in the lower-left shelf of my computer rack, and move the computer into a quiet housing. Does anyone know these lengths and can save me a search?

I think the recommended maximum length is around 40 cm.
That means I will need an external interface. Should I look for a USB2 adapter for EIDE to connect the CD-R or is something easier and cheaper available that won't decrease performance of the CD-R?

What about Serial ATA? I think those cables can be longer...
Something like this? $20.

Controller cards appear to run about $50.
Cable (http://www.mwave.com/mwave/doc2/a00306.html) about $9.
$79 + shipping to move CD drive 1m away from computer. Hmm.
You guys are lucky having an actual desk. :(
I have to use a Metro Rack. I think it was meant to store food on.

Something like that, yes... New motherboards often have SATA built-in anyway, so it's the future. The only thing you need to check is that your drive will work with a SATA converter.

Ouch. That looks like a wiring nightmare.
I'm looking at something like this USB/IDE enclosure to mount to the bottom-left opening in my cabinet:
http://www.kingwin.com/pdut_detail.asp?LineID=&CateID=27&ID=104
Might get two of those, put the CDROM/DVD in one, the CD/CD-R in the other. $74 each, plus cables.
This should enable me to close up the computer entirely in sound-proof box (except for ventilation).
safe to say i win this fight, ill -try- and take pictures tonight. 8)
This picture was taken a few days ago. I am amazed and proud of how messy my room was then (though it has been messier in the past).

Of course you need those CDs to burn backups of your own programs and stuff.

(BNLS source code now on CDs :))
I needn't assure you that this isn't Nero you see running on the computer in the pictures, and I was certainly not using it to burn DVD-rips of Monty Python's Flying Circus at the time.

Yes, you needn't tell us because we wouldn't believe you anyway :-)

That's totally eww. Of all my burned CDs, I have only 1 that I wrote on in Hebrew, and that's only because the movie that was on it was in Hebrew.

I have that same black chair as grok. When my dad's company moved offices I snagged a lot of neat things, such as that chair.
