Title: Audio CD burning with CD TEXT help
Post by: Grok on December 11, 2008, 11:14 PM
My car's head unit supports CD-TEXT for CD playback, displaying the artist and title of each song.  I have tried to create my own audio CDs using a cuesheet and cdtext, and while my CDs play back perfectly, the head unit never displays the artist and title of the tracks.  Instead, it only ever displays "CDn TRACK nn" (where n corresponds to a cd or track number).

I am using ImgBurn to create the layout, cuesheet, cdtext, and do the burn.  Previously I have manually created cuesheets and cdtext files in CDRWIN.  Both methods produce the same results as described in the first paragraph.

Any of you successfully done this?

Nero always seems to do a good job... Can you read the CD-TEXT from a CD that works and a CD that doesn't to compare differences, maybe?

try using exact audio copy (http://exactaudiocopy.de/) to create a non compliant cue sheet and use Burrrn (http://www.burrrn.net/?page_id=4) to burn the discs

here's a guide for exact audio copy if you decide to start using one of the best/most secure cd ripper :)

I usually burn my CDs as data disc if the head unit can read .MP3's. It displays all the MP3's audio info (I use to use Nero to do this). Also, which head unit do you have?

Same, Curious have you tried a CD that has worked in your head unit the way you specified.

What makes a ripper "secure"?

I think a good synonym for "secure" would be "accurate" since glancing over this page (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/en/index.php/overview/basic-technology/extraction-technology/) leads me to believe it tries to make an "exact" copy.

Turns out that although my service guide says CD-TEXT is supported, some other owners are saying CD-TEXT is not supported.  So I am out of luck for now.

Looked it up on the manufactures website?
maybe it does support it, maybe have to turn it on?
