Title: EternalChat 2.17
Post by: Spht on March 29, 2007, 01:19 PM
Apparently some people prefer it over SphtBotv3, and its create clan feature, so I've made the necessary changes to the code to make it work again

Awesome. Glad I noticed this thread. EC is actually my favorite Battle.net bot and has been for a few years now. Good work, Spht.  8)

Sure Sure... u probley just finnaly gave in to alot of people that perfer that bot over sphtbot =) come'on its became almost the only publicy used legendary bot. =) now if ZDS would get updated, i'd be set.

screw nbbot/stygian n the others, they were just slooppy coded although ub0r for there time. but nowa days just a pile of junk.

perhaps a chewbot update though, im sure the code is sloppy by todays battle.net bot coding standerds but im sure If Lord`bacca wanted to clean it up he could but i doubt that would ever happen.

Not that this is really important to mention, but I don't think today's "bot coding standards" for Battle.net have really changed much. There's still of course the more skilled coders out there who strive for nicer, more efficient code, but there is still also quite a few people who just don't care how their code looks or where it came from, just as long as it works. There just seems to be less of these people who don't care about their code nowadays.

I love you Spht! This is by far my favorite bot since its easy to use and I've had no problems w/ it at all, unlike every other bot.  The coloring scheme is just so perfect, no lag, detects reconnects well, and tells about clan logins.  I 'm so glad the source wasn't forever lost~

/me suggests to Spht to release the source code so it can be modified for updates by someone else.

Or just appoint a maintainer to it who'd be more willing to do it than you.

Maybe it's no longer up-to-date? Afterall, there were more updates that came after Spht updated EternalChat. You'll have to try another bot.

I don't know what good bots there are. I know of a few bots that work right now that use BNLS. Check out miragebot.net, you'll find some bots there. I don't recommend those bots, but I'm not sure you have a choice, or much of one. Also, SphtBot may also work.
