They're only supposed to release something like 400,000* this year IIRC.
The Wii openned with full release and is going to sell 1,000,000* this year I hear.

I dont recall exact numbers, but Wii #s were MUCH larger than ps3.

Yep. I bought a Wii on launch day and then an Xbox about a week later, the Wii hasn't been touched since...
I'm considering selling it, but I doubt I could get the $400 that it would take for me to essentially break-even. (System, two games, extra controller, Mario Classic, extra 1000 points)
/me thinks the tickle me elmo fad is teh stupidz for it makes no sense

What were your impressions on the Wii?

What were your impressions on the Wii?
When replying to this remember that god hates fanboys.
First impressions were great. It's a sleek little machine and I like the WiFi out of the box (although I had trouble getting it to connect at first and had to mess with my router some.) The GUI is nice and Wii Sports is really fun. I like the controller, again it's great in Wii Sports but I think that it will only be most effective in Sports games like that (or until more addons are made for it.) In Madden I was torn, it was kind of cool being able to "throw" the ball but on the other hand the controls were harder to master. In Zelda it's neat being able to swing the controller, but it's no different than a button push as intensity of the swing isn't reflected in-game. The technology however is something that can be really fun and I'm sure will be really fun after more games are made.
What's lacking is the graphics. People argue "gameplay over graphics" but games like Madden 07 look plain horrible, sub-ps2. Zelda isn't as bad, probably because it was written exclusively for the Wii and wasn't ported or anything like that. But Nintendo should have just upped the price alittle and supported HD. In my opinion, HD is now. I have a high definition TV in my bedroom so this is something I had a problem with. They should have atleast had the component cables for sale on launch day instead of making us wait over a month.
Also, it's a good value...at first. $250 for a 'next-gen' console. However, they nickle and dime you for everything. For example, $60 for a new controller (well, controller+nunchuk) it's unreal. The only things going for it is that it's just plain fun, and once multiplayer games are supported that will be fun and free. But as of right now the online portion is very underdeveloped. Things like news and weather had no reason not to be available at launch. The Mii idea is pretty cool too, but again its currently not being put to any use.
My advice: If you have friends over alot or parties this would be great. But it's not a console you should hurry out and get. I'm considering selling it now and just rebuying it closer to college (that's whatI wanted it for really) when the other colors come out and they fix some of the things wrong with it.
(However if your TV isn't HD it really doesn't matter too much. But for me, I'm not going to pay the same amount of money for a game that I could get for my xbox and have such drastically worse graphics.)
If anyone is interested I've got a PS3 bundle for sale. (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZnoctrancefeQQhtZ-1l)
My uncle bought 35 Tickle Me Elmo's and couldn't sell any of them.
Is Wiii online?
