Title: CS: Source (New)
Post by: Invert on November 21, 2006, 11:58 AM
There is nothing new on the market in terms of gaming that is worth playing (IMO) so I decided to go back to a game that I had the most fun playing. Would anyone be interested in joining me in playing CS: Source? If enough people show interest I will look into getting a dedicated CS: Source server.

I already own a dedicated CS: Source server and I play from time to time.

Great, that's 4 people now that I can play with. Do other people play on your server? How do I find your server? I have never used steam before to play CS so I am new to steam.

Not sure, I'm not on it daily so I don't really know the user flow. If I remember my rcon information, you can have it and moderate it as you play, I really don't care.

I think I have you on MSN, we could possibly arrange a game with Arta, him and myself used to play in public games.

I'm currently on my laptop and I can't remember my server IP, I'll post it when I have it.

I still play CS:S regularly. Being in Australia I generally have a ping of 220 ms on servers in the USA/Canada, so I'm not sure if that'll be too unplayable (I usually just play on aussie servers). My account is ' frozenice89 '.

Quit your bitching. My ping is up in the 200's too. :P

Sorry.  I'm old enough to be responsible for what gets bought for me.  My parents never bought stuff just because I asked/told them to, and they especially won't now (what with them paying for my college and all).

How many people are needed for cal anyways.

IIRC there are 2v2 divisions, but 2v2 is lame.  5v5 is standard.

If you are old enough and responsible why do you beg for someone to buy you a game? If you are old enough and responsible why do you not have money to buy something for yourself? Maybe it's because you are not old enough or responsible. Are waiting for Santa Clause to bring you this game for Christmas? Just in case you are old enough and responsible I will let you know that Santa Clause does not exist, I hope you take this well and won't cry.

I think I still have access to a steam account or two, I suppose I could install it later today.  I'm pretty terrible, though.

Everything is great except that if we were to play together we would need to choose a server. Akamas did not get back to me yet on the status of his CS:S server.

Does anyone know of a good server where maps rotate and friendly fire is enabled?

Play a game more competitive, CS 1.6

Agreed.

CAL-CS:S is not much challenge, not many teams registered. Most of the CALi teams CANNOT compete at CALim-m level of CS 1.6.

Which makes it easier to actually accomplish something in CAL...

Accomplishing something in CAL is not a big deal. CAL is corrupt. Many teams have paid CAL admins to achieve a higher league. Go CEVO.

I'm sorry but, WTF?

Who gives a shit about some ranking system for a game? I want to play CS:S in particular because it looks better. I want to play this game with people from the forums and people that I used to play with when vL ran a CS server - all for fun!

I can care less about you being a "cyberathlete". It's gay!

Well many do; obviously the people that pay CAL admins to get into a high level league to build reputation and experience on their STEAMID. Also higher level league players: CALi - compLexity, Team3D, Pandemic.

They all have amazing SPONSORSHIPS from many companys for example Pandemic just received a sponsorship from Plantronics today. compLexity competes at high level gaming tournaments: CPL. CPL gives out $50, 000 to #1 CS 1.6 I believe. Many build their living from gaming.
Danny "fRoD" Montaner, bought a BMW by the money he "earned" by playing for compLexity. These teams are setup very professionally, by setting up contracts, etc.

My opinion is: I don't think Akamas is going to come through with the server so I will have to set something up myself.

Whatever, it isn't costing me any extra to keep the server running. Although, it would be nice to see some people actually use it. Fuck the fireplace, huddle around a nice hot monitor and game of Counter-Strike: Source, it's what Christmas is all about!

It's the holidays. I used the server to play before.

Akamas, I have a problem logging in to change the bot settings. :(

Doesn't the RCON work? You should be able to modify all settings via RCON, although my experience with RCON is very little. If you need to contact me regarding the server, just message me over MSN.
