Title: Just a thought,,,
Post by: iago on May 31, 2003, 03:56 AM
I don't know if this is even possible (it's probably not) but what's the harm in asking?

Anyway, these are the facts available to me:
1. My new laptop has an infrared network thingy
2. My tv sits directly behind my laptop when I'm at my desk (well, bed)
3. My remote control is heavy and is often in an awkward place (in other words, out of my reach)

Anyway, my question is if there is any api (or even a program) that would let me send out an infrared pulse at a specific frequency/duration, or something like that?  :)

Use the Win32SDKInfraRedPulseAPI(ELECTROMAGNETICVECTOR* pblockdata), if such a thing exists.

Hope this helps.

I'm getting a new laptop within the week... maybe if you get that program working could you let me try it as well?

You use Winsock - create an IrDA socket, and umm.. stuff.

Grok - I'm assuming I'm going to have to go a little lower-level than that to get the control I need :P

You're all being so useless :)
