Title: Firefox not recording Cookies
Post by: Meh on December 09, 2005, 08:28 AM
Since yesterday FireFox has not been recording and keeping cookies. It started by saying that cookies.txt was corrupt, run CheckDisk. I ran Checkdisk. No luck. Reinstalled FF, no luck. Virus scanned, removed 2 virus then ran adaware no luck. Cookies are set to be accepted. Any idea what the problem is?

FireFox. You should be smart enough to use IE and not get viruses while using it.

I have never gotten a virus from using IE, nor has my system been intruded; this doesnt mean that people haven't attemped. I say this mainly because of the common sense that is needed when surfing the internet. All you need to surf the internet with IE is a good virus scanner (nod32), a firewall (I use the XP one) and common sense. I use Google toolbar to block ads and more importantly convience. I've also setup the IE settings properly without making it totally useless. Tabs is a nice feature, but nothing im interested in. FireFox seems like a good product and i am sure it is; it's just that the community that uses that product seems to portray the fact that anything is better than MS, which I don't agree with.

It doesn't fucking matter what he uses.  If he asks for help on trying to make cookies work in Firefox, you shouldn't say "Use something else and don't be stupid."  Stop your fighting and try to be civil you arrogant pricks.

Though uncivil, he did say what needed to be said. ;)

Nobody said those telling others to be civil had to be civil.

"My oven won't turn on so I can't make cookies" -- same thing as "My Internet browser won't make cookies" A possible solution: get a new one.

But more likely one would call a repairman.

WOW, I expected more help. Im not at uncivil prick either, I was pointing out why I use firefox and dont want to change browsers so that outburst was uncalled for. Anyway the problem seems to have been fixed by CheckDisck and defrag.

I love the posters here. I really do. "I need help with product a."

Half of you respond, suggesting using product b.

Don't you think if he wanted to use product b, he could use product b? Way to be productive.

Meh: I've had the same problem. I had to reboot + chkdsk and it fixed it.

Meh, accept my apology. Don't get too upset over what I say in the future.

I wasnt geting upset but it does annoy me when people suggest using something else, like the whole Windows - Linux thing. "My XP wont work", "Use Linux" is the comeback.

Sometimes, that's actually a good suggestion.  If Linux does work, it means there's a problem with the XP install.  If Linux doesn't work, then there's a hardware problem, which will afflict the original poster regardless of what OS is used. :)
