Title: Outlook networking question
Post by: CrAz3D on November 29, 2005, 04:26 PM
@ the office we have a network setup (2 computers only).

They use outlook to check email.

Sometimes one computer gets the email while the other doesn't.  Why is this?
Might this be because once the email is open the email server realizes that the email has been checked & it wont send the same message again when someone else logs in?

Are they reading email for the same account?  Or are they using separate accounts?

Are they using POP3, Imap, or Exchange?

POP3 typically deletes the email off the server, unless you tell the client not to.  Imap always leaves mail on the server, and you download messages when you ask for them, but your folder structure and everything is remote.   I don't know what Exchange does.

I recommend using Imap (or maybe Exchange), if you're accessing the same account.

Same account, pop3 I assume.

I'll mention Imap to the tech guy (so much he knows) when he comes in the next time
