Is there a monthly fee? I liked the alpha (beta?) and am considering getting it if there isn't one. However, POTO of course comes first. =)

I started a character in the BETA weekend awhile ago, some hardcore-shitty caster and his rusty sidekick mercenary. It looked OK when I played it, it seemed a little Diablo 4 to me though.

(Diablo 3 is taken by World of Warcraft)

Looks like I'll be getting the game, it has received very good reviews from players and fan sites.
Seems to be like a fun game that is worth my money.

Please keep posting about this game. I want to hear the good, the bad and the.... well what ever.

It's pretty straight forward, Hostile.

It's only pretty straight forward? Then why not be 100% straight forward instead of using a dumb analogy and wasting bandwidth by having to explain yourself and wasting our time making us read two (or three) posts instead of one.

You should take your own advice into consideration.

I was well aware that I was being hypocritical when posting that, thanks.

What's the gameplay like, Blaze?

Similiar to WoW, but in my opinion, everything is much smoother and more realalistic looking. All the grass sways in the wind and the Character Modelling is the best I have ever seen. The story starts out pretty slow, but by level 3-5 when you get your second profession, the story changes a lot, then the game really starts. I have been coming home and playing this game as much as I can since Wednesday (When I bought it), and it's really addicative.  There are a lot of good players.  There is a PvP system, but its like fighting in an arena.  My main role playing character is a Ranger and a Necromancer.  I can charm animals so they are my pet and help me fight, I can shoot arrows long distances while my pet keeps them from getting to me.  There is something called the hall of heros, which is the high high level people battling for international glory. Each time America, Europe, or Asia win, they get closer to "being favored by the gods".  Basicly people are fighting for their country to be at the top of the ladder.  You can buy dy to colour things, you need materials to make clothes, ect. and its just a great game overall.

My rating 9/10

You know like...final fantasy rpg...select an attack, wait for it to go, or is it hack n slash?
Title: Re: Guild wars
Post by: hismajesty on May 06, 2005, 06:55 PM
Hack and slash, basically. From my experience during the testing stage, you go the arena thing and you get put onto a team of like four people. You're in this big field area with rocks and whatever, it's not too big but it's big enough and you dual it out. The mages and such generally hang in the back while warriors rush up front.

Been playing since last week-ish, "El Penguino" (PvP) or "Drakus Thundertrowe" (PvE). PvP is pretty challenging if you do the random team fights, there is no guarentee your team will have a healer. Also, there is a certain strategy involved - team members can send beacons and directions via minimap allowing them to plan pincer attacks and flanks. You also need someone to call targets so all the tanks can immediately kill off enemy monks and paladins at the onset of the fight. The 4 team free for all battles at the Hall of Heroes are especiailly perilous, if you attack too little you run the risk of allowing teams to heal after a battle with another team - whereas if you attack too much you run the risk of allowing a team that's been sitting back waiting to swoop in and knock you out after a vicous battle. Ive seen allied guilds team up against the other two teams and then take turns winning.

Oh, and if anyone's remotely interested, I'm selling the following:

- Bow Grip of Defense, Adds 4 defense to Bow (40gp)
- Elementalists Rune of Minor Earth Magic, Increases Earth Magic by 1 when added to a piece of armor (125gp)
- Cruel Sword Hilt, Lengthens deep wound duration (100gp)

Yeah, that's one reason I want to wait. We have SOLs (Standards of Learning, State Standardized Tests) this week and next. Now, I only have two tests to take but I really need to do a lot of reviewing for Chemistry. My teacher said (I don't know if was joking though) that if I get Pass Advanced he'll add 10 points to my grade. So, I'll either get it next week or in two weeks.

We'll be glad to see all of vL members as a part of our guild, I can also give guild officer status for some of the old vL members I know (like Adron). If you're interested, whisper me inside the game (the nickname is Alpha Tester) or drop a reply here.

Monk is my primary character (My Heal Other spell heals for 300+ hit points  ;D) but I also have an elementalist... If anyone has questions concerning game play, or monk builds :P,  ask away.
