Title: Will a service load a Bot for me?
Post by: Tazo on April 27, 2003, 07:38 AM
(http://forum.valhallalegends.com/phpbbs/YaBBImages/info.gif)I was wondering, can I like pay someone or is there a service out there that will load me a 24/7 bot? Or mostly on?

About a year ago, Skywing offered clans the service of running a ZeroBot in their channel for them. But I don't think he does that anymore.

Companies? What is this, a business?

Battle.net is owned by Blizzard Entertainment. Any Battle.net bots are against the Battle.net EULA. IANAL, but I wouldn't be surprised if a company that sells services such as 24/7 bots would be illegal. Either way, it's definitely not worth the money. :)

Incorrect.  L's are the only ones who really are at liberty.

Practically any group that says they will make a bot for you is lying. If they ask for a cd-key, username, or password, be warned that chances are you will lose the key and account.

Kane, I would take you up on the server offer except you want money :(. Also I am getting 1GB of server space with unlimited bandwidth from R2B.net, unfortunately no shell access...

MacOS X server rules??? Are you serious? The best server OS is Solaris, and if you do not know what the hell you are doing, RedHat. Mac OS X server is about the same as comparing Mac OS Classic built-in WebSharing with Windows 2000 Server. They both suck, but it is obvious which is worse for a server.

I do...

Though, I just got a couple (4) of unix (AIX) systems for near dirt cheap. I plan on playing around, selling, and my dad's interested in colocating them and selling services...

You can't expect me to do it for free, can you?

RedHat, sure. Solaris? Are you kidding? This isn't the place for an OS war (is it?), but personally, I prefer a company whose track record isn't so... questionable... Just look at how many times Solaris has changed their minds about what they're going to do with their operating system and processor...

Personally, Mac OS X is a good server if you're not too great with command lines; the (bloated) user interface makes it easy to do what you could do with a command line.

If you prefer command lines, *nix on a RISC processor (such as IBM's AIX or Yellow Dog Linux (I've not heard much about YDL) or LinuxPPC) is the way to go.

Edit: Oops, RedHat, not RedHate  ;)

There is currently no forum dedicated to flaming or technical wars. There might never be one.
The closest forum to a flame forum as of now is the Trash Can (http://forum.valhallalegends.com/phpbbs/index.php?board=9).
